Diamond status awarded to Greenwich restaurants

Two restaurants in Greenwich were recently recognized by AAA Northeast as Diamond restaurants for their world-class amenities and services.

Rebeccas earned Four Diamonds for the eighth year in a row, while the Thomas Henkelmann also earned Four Diamonds for its 14th successive year.

Also earning top awards within driving distance of Greenwich was Winvian of Morris. Located in the northwest corner of the county, it earned a Five Diamond Award for its restaurant, which is the only such award that has been given to a restaurant in the state. Winvian was also given a Five Diamond for its property, which is 113 acres in size and features 19 cottages with different themes.

The public affairs specialist of AAA Northeast, Fran Mayko, said that a AAA Four or Five Diamond rating means that the establishment provides memorable guest experiences and outstanding services, is highly focused on detail, and demonstrates creativity.

Mayko added that only 0.2% of the total of 31,000 restaurants AAA inspects and approves receive a designation of Five Diamonds. Four Diamonds are given to just over 2% of restaurants.

AAA Northeast serves 500,000 people living in the counties of Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven in Connecticut.
