There are many programs available within the next month from the Recreation Department of Enfield. The department's spring program calendar is available online.
There will be classes for all ages, a swim team, and special events. Enfield Residents were able to start registering in late February, and open registration started early March. Programs fill quickly and space is limited.
Beginner field hockey is available for kids 5th-8th grades starting on April 18 until May 23. The team will meet on the turf field of Enfield High School at 5:45 pm until 7:15 pm. They will learn the rules of the game, handling the ball and stick, shooting, passing, and receiving. The first half will be drills, and the second half will be playing a game. Kids are responsible for obtaining a stick and safety gear.
Children from 3 to 7 years old can learn to play soccer and basketball as a Tiny Hawk or Mini Hawk. The program will teach them hand/eye coordination, movement, balance, and other skills players can develop through an encouraging environment. Practice is on Wednesdays starting from May 9 until June 6 in the gym at Parkman School. Ages 3-4 meet at 5:00 pm until 5:45 pm, and ages 5-7 meet from 5:50 pm until 6:50 pm.
One way to pay for sports programs is through Promotional Products. Parents of players often buy them, both to support their children’s team and as a memento of the season.
