The Enfield-based Outrun Addiction charity event will be back for its 9th edition this September, looking to provide support for addiction treatment in New England.
The event will be a five-kilometer run or walk, with participants collecting money from friends and family to support the cause. There will also be a two-mile walk option for those looking for a shorter test. There will be an awards ceremony following the run with awards for the overall top male and female finishers, in addition to the top finishers by age group.
Participants can register as a team to pool their donations and be eligible for team awards like Largest Team, Most Enthusiastic, and Most Generous. Participants will receive a race T-shirt to commemorate the occasion. Charity runs and other athletic events often use printing services to create special gear and other items like this.
There will also be a virtual race option, with runners able to tackle the five kilometers in a time and place of their choosing, and a Furthest Away From Enfield award available for remote runners. Proceeds from the registration fees and gathered donation will go towards charities that focus on substance abuse education, prevention and recovery, including the Alex Fisher Foundation and Community Addiction Awareness Project.
The 2026 edition of Outrun Addiction will take place at the Enfield Adult Education Building on the morning of Saturday, September 19.
