Enfield to celebrate Americas 250th

Enfield’s America 250 committee has announced a slate of events this spring, aiming to build up to the country’s 250th anniversary.

Following a series of historical events, the Enfield Community Chorus will hold its “Stars, Stripes and Song” concert . The chorus will also be celebrating its 50th anniversary, as it was founded to celebrate the Bicentennial in 1976. The first half of the show will feature classic American themes while the second will focus on patriotic standards.

Two weeks later, the Enfield Rotary and Town of Enfield will unveil new Banners throughout the community, honoring military veterans from the area. Enfield author Matt Reardon will hold a Meet the Author event, promoting his book The Traitor’s Homecoming: Benedict Arnold’s Raid on New London, Connecticut. The book chronicles a Revolutionary War battle near the Edina area.

The Enfield Library will continue hosting educational programming into the summer and fall. Enfield’s Memorial Day and July 4th celebrations will also feature exhibits and events to honor the 250th. Historical events like this often use methods like brochure printing and visual displays to help better convey information.

The Enfield Community Chorus’s “Stars, Stripes and Song” Concert will take place at Enfield High School on May 2. The Dedication of Veteran Banners will follow at Town Hall on May 19, and “The Traitor’s Homecoming” author event on May 20 at the Enfield Library.
