Library to show Tom Hanks film

The Enfield library will screen the Tom Hanks film “News of the World” in February. This event will be a part of the library’s Friday Film series.

This film is based on a 2016 novel and was co-written and directed by Paul Greengrass, a filmmaker who is mostly known for his work in the Jason Bourne series. Upon its release, the film was praised highly by critics, who commended the performances of the actors, musical score, and cinematography. In addition, the movie received multiple Academy Award nominations, including those for Best Sound and Best Cinematography.

Academy Award winner Hanks stars with the young German actress Helena Zengel in the movie, the plot of which takes place in America during the Wild West year of 1870. At this time, a Civil War veteran named Jefferson Kyle Kidd is tasked with transporting a young orphan, who was adopted by a Native American Kiowa tribe, to her last living relatives.

As the film is rated PG-13, it is unlikely that it will be appropriate for younger children.

The film will screen from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, February 4, at 104 Middle Rd. More information can be found on the library’s site, and libraries also often share details of upcoming events on their billboards with the help of poster printing companies.
