Historical guided tour to come to Connecticut

The Connecticut Trails Day: Historic Main Street in Suffield will be held next month. Residents from Suffield and its’ many neighboring communities – including Enfield, Southwood Acres and Windsor Locks – are welcome to participate.

Organized by the Connecticut Forest and Park Association (CFPA), this one-hour guided tour will cover approximately one mile of Suffield’s Main Street. The tour will be guided by a museum tour operator from the Phelps-Hatheway House and Garden. The buildings will be brought to life by understanding the history of Suffield throughout the 18th and 19th Centuries.

The CFPA is a non-profit organization committed to keeping parks, walking trails, and forests accessible for all residents of the State. Each year more than 250 events are organized by the association, including hikes, bike rides, and walking trails.

The CFPA began publishing a Print magazine called Connecticut Woodlands back in 1936. The magazine incorporates full color images and graphic design, and is available to all supporters of the association. Past versions of the publication are archived on the website and available for download.

The Historic Main Street tour will be held on Saturday, June 5 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Phelps-Hatheway House and Garden located at 55 South Main Street. The tour will run over paved sidewalks, making it suitable for all ages. This is a free event, but registration in advance on the Eventbrite website is required.
