The area two events taking place in Hartford County next month to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Martin Luther King Gala for Literacy and Learning is a fundraiser for the Scribe’s Institute Young Scribe’s Literary Program’s new facility. Guests will enjoy a buffet dinner and a full cash bar.
There will also be a silent auction, live DJ, and dancing. Everyone will receive a souvenir journal, in which local businesses can purchase ads from $200 up to $1,600. Sponsorships are also available starting at $3,000. The gala will take place at the Hartford Club on January 15 from 7:00 to 11:00 PM, and tickets are $95 each.
Taking place on the same night will be the Martin Luther King Day 25th anniversary gala celebration hosted by the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission. It will be held at the Hartford Marriott from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Tickets cost $150 each.
The evening will start off with a cocktail reception, followed by speeches and dinner. The keynote speaker will be Dr. James Lewis III. Three ‘Dream Makers’ will also be honored: Rosa DeLauro, Richard Blumenthal, and Flemming L. Norcott Jr. Guests will also be treated to a screening of the documentary ‘Martin Luther King in Connecticut’.
