Golf classic to tee off in May

Entertainers and pro athletes are coming to the Connecticut-Massachusetts border to take the golfing world by storm.

This May, the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Classic is due to put on what will be its 21st annual event in Feeding Hills, where four golfers will play a scramble format at the Oak Ridge Country Club. Participating celebrities are scheduled for announcement in April, but past participants include the NFL's Steve Nelson, hockey's Garry Swain, and actor Paul D'Amato.

The event will start with an 11:00 am lunch, followed by the main event and dinner. The entry fee is $125 for the full event or $115 if fully paid by April 1, or $25 for dinner only. All proceeds from the event will go to the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame Scholarship and Amy Romano Memorial Scholarship, as well as operating costs for the Enfield Hall of Fame.

Registration to play in the tournament can be completed by contacting Gary DiBattista at brjester@cox.net or 860-335-2398 or Jim Jensen at 860-394-5091. Those who wish to sponsor or donate to the raffle prize can contact Tim Desjardin at tdsjardin@bbumail.com or 860-250-1823, or Joe Andrychowski at jandyski@aol.com or 860-745-8156.

The Hall of Fame could hire a banner printing company to make a banner for the event, which takes place on May 6.
