Enfield will host the yearly fun run for Hazardville Memorial School this summer.
The Student 1K is for children 10 and under. Adults can participate in the 5K timed race, which consists of two laps around a road course at 68 North Maple Street. It will be easy to watch from the sidelines and cheer on the runners.
Snacks and water will be provided at no charge for all runners. New this year will be a playground for children to use when they are not running a race. There will also be music and raffles, priced at $5 for 10 tickets.
Although the event is a fundraiser for the HMS Parent Teacher Organization, the races are not just for students, staff, and members of the PTO. It is a day for everyone to spend with family to get some exercise.
Adult registration for the 5K for is $10 before June 11 and $15 at the race. Students under the age of 19 pay $5 if they preregister and $10 on site. Registration for the 1K is $5 and is available through race day. Each registration includes a race bib, medals for the top three runners of each gender, and a recovery area for runners with snacks. All participants of the 1K will get a medal for finishing.
The annual race is on June 13, starting at 9:00 am. Banner printing is used at races to mark the start and finish of each run.
