Stroup Kids for Kids Epilepsy Foundation has organized a Tri to Help Connecticut event in Enfield.
Tri To Help is a national sprinting indoor triathlon fundraiser for autism and epilepsy organizations. Both beginner and experienced triathletes are welcome to raise the most money for charity.
This year, proceeds will go toward many of the programs Stroup Kids for Kids Epilepsy Foundation offers, such as research with ketogenics and metabolism therapy, advocacy, phone recycling, and monitoring units for children.
The triathlon will include 10 minutes of lap swimming, 10 minutes of switching from swimming to biking, 30 minutes of biking, 5 minutes of transitioning from biking to running, and running on the treadmill for 20 minutes.
Healthtrax Fitness and Wellness Center is hosting the event on January 18. Located at 3 Weymouth Road, participants do not have to fundraise in order to register, but it is encouraged. Registration starts at $60 for individuals and $110 for a group relay.
The first group will begin at 8:00 am and then every 40 minutes another group will start. Participants can sign up for a desired time but slots are first come, first served. Athletes are expected to arrive 30 minutes before their start time.
Printing services create shirts for people participating in competitive athletic events. They serve as a memento of the event.
