Enfield to participate in traditional Four Town Fair

The Four Town Fair will return to Connecticut this September, with Enfield one of the eponymous towns being invited to take part.

The event boasts of being the oldest continuous agricultural fair in Connecticut, first held over 180 years ago. Currently, the Fair is held in Somers every year, but also represents Enfield, East Windsor, and Ellington. It features traditional agricultural competitions, with livestock, produce, and farming techniques being professionally judged, as well as contests like King of the Pumpkin Patch and Doodlebug Pulling. There will also be on-stage performances by illusionist David Garrity and musical acts like Redhead and The Eagles Experience.

One of the chief attractions will be the annual horse show, with prizes awarded for the best horses and riders. There will also be a car show where local hobbyists can show off their rides, including classic vehicles. The Fair also includes a classic midway with rides, games, food vendors, and activities aimed at the whole family. Fairs like this mark the changing of seasons and provide an opportunity for kids and newcomers to get acquainted with the agricultural world, and are often advertised through methods like flyer printing and local media marketing.

The 2024 Four Town Fair will take place from September 12 to 15 at the Union Agricultural Society grounds in Somers.
