Enfield teacher recognized for outstanding work

Last month, Sean Patrick Crane of Enfield was awarded 'Outstanding US History Teacher of the Year' by The Penelope Abbey chapter of Daughter of American Revolution.

Crane was nominated by Paul Newton, principal at Fermi High School, who said that Crane is of the best U.S. History teachers he has met. Principal Andrew Longey of Enfield High added that Crane's students score exceptionally well on their national exams. In addition, he has started preparing for the combination of the two schools, which is set to occur in 2016. One of Crane’s students commented that he helped him get his grades up when he was nearly failing the class.

Previously, Crane was the Enfield 2008/2009 Teacher of the Year. As well as being department chair for social studies in the Enfield Public School system, he also teaches AP US History at Enfield and Fermi High Schools. He attributes his success to those who taught him before he graduated in 1987, stating that a teacher's job is to prepare students for higher education and the rest of their lives.

Outside of the classroom, Crane participates in several teacher activities, including monitoring clubs and the Teachers’ Bowling League.

Fermi High, Enfield High, and the Enfield Board of Education may want to hire a banner printing company to celebrate Crane's success in winning, and let students know of his achievement.
