Enfield High School has had several sports successes on October 28, including in alumni field hockey and cross country.
The day saw the fifth consecutive annual match between the alumni of Enfield High School and Fermi High School, and more than 20 past players of the schools' respective field hockey teams arrived at the Fermi athletic complex. Players were as young as 18 and as old as 48. The most veteran alumnus was once again Nancy Geaglone, who graduated from Enfield High in 1987 as Nancy Rivard.
Fermi and Enfield are rival schools in opposite sides of the community, so competing against each other brought out the team spirit, although matters remained good-natured. The Raiders won the match and celebrated at Chicago Sam's. Next year, Enfield High School will host the next match as the alumni alternate fields.
On the same day, Enfield native Sydney Nash placed in the top 20 in the divisional CIAC championships for cross country at Manchester's Wickham Park. Almost 2,000 runners from several high schools came to compete, with over 1,800 finishing an event over the course of the the day. More than 250 scores were disclosed while 126 were not.
School sporting events are excellent photo opportunities for Calendars that raise money for the school. Alumni may be esepcially interested in one if they feature in a photo.
