Women who graduated from one of Enfield's high schools, and played for the field hockey team, recently returned for the yearly alumni match.
The game, which has been a tradition for three years, took place on October 3 at Fermi Stadium.
The 30 women in attendance were from half a century of teams that passed through the halls of Enfield High and Fermi High schools. The oldest player was 58, while the youngest was 19.
The alumni included women who had not played in decades, but also those who went on to play in college and go into the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame. The award for the player in the earliest class went to Diane O'Brien, of the class of 1975. The player who traveled the farthest for the reunion was Leah Secondo from Florida. She is also an Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame charter member.
Coaches Cookie Bromage of Enfield High and Rosemary Sullivan of Fermi High watched the other attendees play. Bromage has gone to the state champions 5 times in 49 years with the team. The weather was wet, but the women seemed content to play and socialize with others from both schools.
Since the field hockey teams gather every year, they may want to hire a graphic design company to make souvenirs of the event. It could have both of the schools' logos on it, or be a simple field hockey design.
