Class of 2018 Hall of Fame honorees named

The Athletic Hall of Fame of Enfield 2018 Class has been announced, and includes former Fermi High School elite and four athletic alumni stars of Enfield High School (EHS).

This September, there will be a dinner for their induction at the Feeding Hills Oak Ridge Country Club.

In addition to individuals, several teams will be inducted or receive awards. The boys soccer team of Enfield High from 1987 will enter the Hall of Fame. The George Daly Award for Special Recognition will go to the Enfield Eagles 1970s and 1980s program for girls ice hockey.

Fermi High School alumnus Ryan Aiken batted .589 and .486 in 2001 and 2002. He is a three-time All-NYCAC member and part of University of New Haven's top 6 in several baseball categories. FHS alumnus Rob Burns holds several records in football for the school.

Enfield High School alumnus Raphael Cerrato is the head coach at the University of Rhode Island where he was the All-Atlantic 10 baseball player, while Kristin Karat coached basketball at Tufts University during the Final Four for the NCAA Division III tournament.

Another EHS alumnus, Mike Linehan, was on the All-State Class LL team and helped organize a soccer tournament. Finally, Freddie Medina was a record school pitcher and won MVP in the Class L championships.

The dinner is on Saturday, September 29 at 5:30 pm, and seats cost $40 each. Towns often use banner printing to celebrate occasions like this.
