Christmas movie to be screened in Enfield

An Enfield church will be screening a Christmas film in its fellowship hall this December.

The film will be 'The Polar Express', which is an adaptation of the book with the same name. It tells the story of a young man who is beginning to lose his faith in the existence of Santa. On Christmas Eve, a mysterious train known as the Polar Express stops outside of his home. He climbs aboard the train and, with many other children, journeys to the North Pole to meet Santa.

Long after its original publication, the 1985 book written by Chris Van Allsburg remains a beloved Christmas classic. It has also sold 12 million Copies worldwide and, as the circular golden Logo Design on each book cover shows, was the 1986 winner of the Caldecott Medal.

The film, released in 2004 and directed by Robert Zemeckis, also remains a holiday must for many. Renowned film critic Roger Ebert wrote highly of the film, praising many of the film's "magical" sequences.

'The Polar Express' will be screened at the Enfield Congregational United Church Of Christ, which is located at 1295 Enfield St. The screening will take place on Friday, December 10 and will start at 6:30 pm. Pizza and drinks will be provided free of charge, and guests are advised to bring their own chair or blanket.
