Enfield residents can soon enjoy a fun-filled Sunday for a charitable cause.
Yappy Tails Animal Rescue will host Throw Love to the Dogs at Odin's Keep Axe House. Participants do not have to have thrown axes before, but must be 10 years or older to handle the axes and should be wearing suitable closed-toed footwear.
The event harks back to the Vikings, who would return from long voyages to their villages throwing major celebrations in their honor. These festivities, which could last for weeks, included indulgent food, drink, and competitions of strength and skill.
Animal supporters are encouraged to order from the venue's bar, which is shaped like a Viking boat and participate in axe throwing and the raffle. Odin's Keep has a selection of beer and wine to choose from. Guests must be 21 to drink.
There will also be other foods to snack on, including sweets and pizza. Finally, guests can purchase merchandise such as clothing with the venue's Logo Design.
Tickets for the event are available until August 2 and cost $50. The money raised during the evening will go to Yappy Tails Animal Rescue, which has an all-volunteer staff and relies on foster homes around the state to rescue animals. Each animal is pulled from a shelter, vetted, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. The nonprofit’s mission is to ensure all animals have a home.
Throwing Love to the Dogs is on August 16, 1:00 pm to 3:15 pm. Odin’s Keep is at 630 Enfield Street.
