At 5 Charnley Road in Enfield stands a decrepit house that has been in disrepair for over five years. To the delight of nearby residents, it will soon be torn down.
Nextdoor neighbor Sandra Petronella has bought the abandoned building from Wells Fargo Bank. The bank asked her if she wanted the property, since she owns the adjacent house. The purchase was through a quitclaim deed but other financial details are not on the public record.
Six years ago, Steven Kneeland purchased the structure according to land records in the town. Petronella commented that he was a good person and sincere about his plans, but left the property to decay after his funds ran dry. Wells Fargo acquired the house at the end of 2014 and wild animals such as foxes and coyotes have taken up shelter in the house. Residents are now ready to deal with the property.
Petronella will demolish the house and clear the debris from the lot. She knows it will be expensive, but believes it is in the best interest of the community because the house makes the neighborhood less attractive.
With the demolition being a community project, Petronella could hire a local Print company to make Flyers asking for volunteers to help clear the property and make it look presentable.
