Many Westminster history buffs will be heading to the annual Living History Days event coming towards the end of April.
This event will be a historical interpretation of 18th-Century colonial America. Guests can experience the era with demonstrations and activities including agriculture, games, education, blacksmithing, and gunsmithing. Stationery printers often use photos of the colonial era for notecard sets.
Twice daily, British and American Continental army troops reenactors will demonstrate military maneuvers, participate in a fife and drum march, and end the activity with a booming artillery demonstration.
The apothecary tent will have demonstrations on surgical techniques and medicines used in the 18th Century.
Four times daily, a stage drama called “Crossroads of Courage” will tell the tale of John Paul Jones and his adventures on the high seas. The play has been written by Melissa Patterson and Kimberly Olson.
Attendees may signup to try their hands at colonial crafts. One session starting at 9:30 am and again at 1:30 pm will be a Brown Bess Musket Making project, which is $20 to partake in. Also, for $12, guests can make paper fans and learn proper fan etiquette.
Admission is $5 and can be purchased upon arrival. The event is scheduled for Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Brave Church, 11500 Sheridan Boulevard.
