Westminster goes to COW stampede

Many runners here in Westminster will be heading to the Holy COW (City of Westminster) Trail Stampede coming in early August.

The 5k course is mostly concrete with intermittent crushed gravel and a few wooden foot bridges. Leashed dogs, strollers, joggers and walkers will be welcome.

Packet pick-up and race day registration will run from 7:00 am to 8:00 am, followed by the start at 8:00 am. Awards will be distributed starting at 8:45 am. The expo area and the finish line will close at 9:15 am.

Individual registration is $39.85, and swag includes short-sleeved tech tees.

This race's charity partner will be Growing Home, a non-profit organization that aids needy families. Attendees are asked to bring five items to donate. Although the emphasis will be on donating dry goods such as pancake mix, oatmeal and flour other items such as canned chicken and tuna, peanut butter and jelly will also be welcome. Those names of people donating items will be entered in a raffle.

Another race partner will be Sneakers4Funds for Growing Home. Race participants are asked to bring new or gently used athletic shoes, trainers or sneakers that are then sent to the Sneakers4Funds, a nonprofit that aids micro-enterprises in developing countries. Donations from Sneakers 4Funds are then sent to Growing Home.

Many race charity partners get poster printing done and place Posters around town.

The Holy COW Trail Stampede will take place Saturday, August 9th, at Westminster Promenade Terrace, 10600 Westminster Boulevard.
