Westminster class to explore the world of bald eagles

Some of Westminster’s area’s largest feathered residents will be taking pride of place during a class that will shine a light on these creatures and their role in the ecosystem.

Bald eagles make Standley Lake Regional Park their home, and the Bald Eagle Discovery Day will guide the 20 participants who register for the event on an exploration of these birds of prey. With some luck, the students may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these raptors in the wild.

The facilitator of the class will discuss the eagles, their life cycle, diet, habits and other details about their lives. Much of the learning will be taking place out of doors, so those who participate are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather and also to bring along water, sunscreen, and a set of binoculars.

Anyone who wishes to be a part of this educational opportunity is asked to register ahead of time, and they will be asked to pay the park entrance fee or hold a season pass. Print shops can be called upon to supply any printed materials needed for this type of event.

This exploration of the life of some of Westminster area’s resident bald eagles has been organized for this Friday, June 1, and it will start at 8:30 am. Anyone who would like to find out more can visit the event’s listing on the City of Westminster’s website.
