Rick Rush appointed to education board

The Jeffco Board of Education recently held a meeting to appoint Rick Rush to fill a previously vacant seat on the board. Judge Jeffrey Pilkington was there to swear Rush in at a session held the following day.

This means that Rush will be involved in decisions that affect certain schools in Westminster. The seat was left vacant by Ron Mitchell’s decision to leave the board, cited health factors as the reason for stepping down.

Rush will serve on the board at least until 2021 when Mitchell’s term comes to an end. The new appointment means that Rush will be District 5’s director and he will also be the Jeffco School Board of Education’s 2nd Vice President. News of new appointments can be shared on documents with official Letterheads.

The board interviewed a total of eight candidates before selecting Rush to represent District 5. The other candidates were Susan Lopez, Sean McGraw, Tim James, Kathy Miks, Marie Watkins, Nic Rosales, and Rebecca Woulfe.

Right after his appointment, Rich Rush shared a statement saying:

"I have always been a strong believer in the value of community-driven public education. It is through well-run school districts that we have a quality workforce, supporting neighborhoods where people want to live and raise families.”

Rush has been a member of the board before. In 2008, he was elected to take up a seat left vacant by Vince Chowdhury.
