Plans push ahead for uplands project

Developers are planning to work on 235-acres of land near Shaw Heights, and they have just released plans to set up a non-profit group designed to help the area.

The developers are from Oread Capital, and held a virtual town meeting at the end of July to update the area’s residents on the latest developments. This was the first public discussion on the topic since February when the Westminster City Council gave its approval for three changes to land use definitions in the area. Oread Capital’s outreach representative, Marcus Pachner, stated that:

“Now we are looking at what we are planning to build in compliance with that underlying comp plan. That’s what is guiding us and it’s what guides the city, so we are beginning a more iterative process with the neighborhood to plan that site.”

The developers plan to put up 2,350 housing units on the 235 acres of land. They also hope to construct houses on farmland located between 84th Avenue and 88th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard. Furthermore, they are looking into what they can do with parcels of land located to the east of Federal Avenue. Graphic design is often used to illustrate what such projects will look like when completed.

The entire project is expected to be several years in the making, and the final design has yet to be approved by Westminster’s city council.
