The new Station 11 will be located at W. 69th Avenue and the old station at 7980 Elmwood Road will no longer be used. Pat Laurienti, the Adams County Fire Chief, is very pleased with the new station. In a written statement, he said:
“The most exciting thing about the new Station 11 is our citizens and firefighters will have a state of the art fire station that will provide the best coverage this community has ever had the privilege of owning. Our firefighters will also live in the safest environment ever seen with the new safety-minded design.”
Station 11 is touted as being among the nation’s most progressive fire stations. The good news for taxpayers is that its construction did not require any extra monetary input or campaigns to raise money from residents in Adams County cities such as Westminster. Even so, Corporate Gifts and donations from individuals can be an effective way to get such initiatives off the ground.
The new station’s design also took into account the county’s growth. The facility’s features include classroom areas, well-designed apparatus storage areas, and a community center that will be hosting community events. A geothermal system is in place to increase the building’s energy efficiency.
