The Denver City Council gave the green light on a plan that will help certain neighborhoods such as Hale, South Park Hill, and Colfax to develop over the next 20 years.
Nearby towns such as Westminster can also expect to benefit from this significant investment in the area.
The city’s officials are calling it the East Area Plan. They took one hour listening to the public and then another two hours debating the important points of the plan, before deciding to back the final version with a vote of 12-1 in favor. The only person to vote against the plan was Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca.
The representative for Montclair and Hale neighborhoods, Amanda Sawyer, was pleased with the outcome, describing it as “really amazing” and adding that it is something she is prepared to defend anywhere in the community.
The final plan is detailed in a 255-page document. It shows how the council plans to make housing more available and increase the density of businesses in the area. There document details for how the bus rapid transit project for East Colfax Avenue will be executed. Graphic design is often used when such conceptualizing projects.
The rest of the plan provides a roadmap to provide more green spaces and trees for residents, as well as how to maintain East Colfax Avenue’s heritage.
