Constructor collaborates with OLC for renovation project

A $13m project to renovate Thornton’s Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center has been given to Pinkard Construction. Construction is expected to begin in early spring of this year near Westminster.

Ohlson Lavoie Collaborative (OLC) will be working closely with Pinkard to provide architectural design services for the renovation works at the recreational center. OLC has worked with Pinkard on several other projects and has decades of experience working with recreational facilities and aquatic installations. The first look of what the project will look like is usually produced using graphic design.

OLC will be tasked with creating a facility that features some of the best aquatic play facilities. The company will also be installing exercise and instruction centers along with an expansion to their locker rooms, which will make the facilities easier for those with special needs and families to access. Robert McDonald, who serves as OLC’s senior principal, commented:

“We are thrilled to be remodeling an exciting aquatic environment for the people of Thornton. There will be something for everyone at the newly renovated Carpenter Recreation Center.”

Rick Converse who is the project’s preconstruction manager is happy for the opportunity to work with OLC and the City of Thornton. He feels that the renovation is a very complex project, but the design technology will make it easier for them.

The renovations on the facility will include the installation of a new lap pool, water slides, and a hydrojet spa.
