Camera bugs take macro photography workshop

Westminster camera aficionados may wish to sign up for a three-part macro photography workshop coming over the next couple of weeks.

The workshop will have three sessions. The first will be basic instruction presented online on Thursday, February 1 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Topics to be discussed include choosing the correct lens, subject illumination, focusing the aperture, selecting the subject, and exposure and composition.

The second session will be at the Butterfly Pavilion, 6252 West 104th Avenue, where photographers may take pictures of moths and butterflies during the hour before the venue opens. This session will end with a photoshoot with other bugs. Mike’s Camera staff will assist with any technical problems or questions, and give hands-on instruction.

Attendees may choose to attend either the Group A session on Saturday, February 3 or Group B on Sunday, February 4. Both sessions will be from 7:45 am to 10:30 am, meeting outside the pavilion at 7:45 am ready to enter the venue at 8:00 am.

The third session will be an online review and critique from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 8. Here pictures will be reviewed, and positive informative feedback will be given.

Stationery printers often use clear colorful butterfly and other nature pictures for their spring or summer notecard sets.

Tuition for the full workshop will be $179 or $69 for those opting to attend the online lecture only. Half of the tuition will be donated to the Butterfly Pavilion.
