The Longmont Museum has a new exhibit opening and has created a special event to complement the occasion.
The museum is hosting the Old-Time Bike to the Museum Night in collaboration with Bicycle Longmont. Cyclists are encouraged to ride to the museum to visit the new Longmont 150 exhibit. Participants are urged to ride old-fashioned bicycles, and wear vintage costumes. Those who show their bike helmets will receive half-off the admission price and enjoy valet parking for their bikes as well.
The Longmont 150 exhibit celebrates the fact that Longmont was founded by the Chicago-Colorado Colony 150 years ago. The exhibit examines the forces that shaped the city in the past, and what will happen going forward. A customized lowrider will offer kids “rides,” and exhibits of industries of the past will illustrate what life was like in Longmont. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create pamphlets that explain the exhibits to visitors.
The bike ride event is scheduled for August 13, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The museum is on Quail Road.
There is another event a week earlier to mark the opening of the exhibit, on August 6, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The reception will be held in the outdoor courtyard and will feature live music. Interested parties are encouraged to dress in the style of their favorite decade.
