The 37th staging of the Sunrise Stampede 5K and one-mile fun run will take place next month, with both a virtual and in-person option.
Many of the athletics and special needs programs in the St. Vrain Valley School District are underfunded. The Sunrise Stampede organizes family-themed events to raise funds for schools to cover race fees, team-building activities, and coaching stipends. Net proceeds also go towards teachers who come up with creative ways for students to learn.
The run will start and end at the Silver Creek High School at 4901 Nelson Road in Longmont, Colorado. Those interested in participating are encouraged to pre-register to receive a branded T-shirt, although they need to register by August 9 to get one.
The top male and female runners from each age group will win a Sunrise Stamped branded mug. In addition, the top overall male and female runner will receive a special award.
Banner printing is a way for race organizers to provide information about the course, and inform runners about where they should go.
The 5K is on Saturday, August 13, while the virtual race will be on Thursday, August 11. The event will start at 8:00 am, and the awards ceremony will take place at 9:30 am. Visit the event listing for more information on the prices, as well as to register.
