Vallejo residents wanted for surveillance advisory board

Applications for the Surveillance Advisory Board (SAB) are now open in the city of Vallejo.

Those on the SAB advise the City Council and the City on best practices to protect the privacy and civil rights of residents related to the purchase, borrowing, and/or use of surveillance technology by departments of the city. The Board also holds meetings to get feedback from the public about the use of such technology in the city, and to ask for testimonies and advice from experts in the field to help members of the board make informed recommendations to the staff and City Council.

Poster printing can be used to promote such applications and the benefits of serving on a board for both the applicant and the city.

There are seven members of the SAB. They need to be residents of Vallejo and from the same district as the member of the Council who appoints them. The term of the member is tied to that of the person who appointed them, and it cannot last more than eight consecutive years. After this, they need to wait another two years before they can serve again.

The submission of applications will close at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 25. Interviews will be set up with qualifying candidates after the closing date of the application.
