CC Sabathia, a legendary pitcher and named MLB All Star six times, recently returned to Vallejo High School, his alma mater, to receive a hometown tribute.
Sabathia was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for 2025. In Vallejo, a street was named after him on Rounds Street and Gateway Drive. He said the feeling was incredible to be honored in such a way by his hometown.
Banner printing can be used along such streets to announce such name changes and for whom the renaming honors.
He said that seeing his name be placed on the streets where he actually grew up is an indescribable feeling. He added that “The Crest” will always be his home and that he is grateful that he will be remembered in this way and at a place that made him the person he is today since the very beginning. This recognition is also for all he has done and continues to do in giving back to the community.
Sabathia was involved in football, basketball and baseball at Vallejo High School. This later enabled him to win the Cy Young Award in 2007, a win in the World Series in 2009, and 251 career wins.
The city of Vallejo has a history of naming streets after icons. In 2023, close to a mile of Magazine Street was renamed E-40 Way in honor of E-40, the Bay City area rapper.
