A local workshop is planning to bring Vallejo residents together to learn the basic skills necessary to prepare and cook with confidence and competency.
Kitchen Workshop for MEHKO Entrepreneurs, which is being organized by Sustainable Solano, is opening enrollment to help Vallejo residents learn the skills necessary for food preparation and cooking. In addition to teaching new skills, participants will learn about the technical support aspects of starting a home kitchen operation to make money from their newly earned skills.
The instructor will demonstrate various knife skills for cutting vegetables and proteins, proper food storage practices, and menu planning. Students will also gain insights into sourcing ingredients from local producers and into the correct steps for safety and sanitation. Brochure printing is a comprehensive way to share large amounts of information with participants at such events, enhancing the learning experience.
Participants will discover the resources they can use through the Small Business Development Center to promote the company and secure more funding. The gathering will end with all students working together to cook a recipe to enjoy for dinner. Space is limited in the course, and reservations will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
The Dan Foley Cultural Center in Vallejo will host the workshop on Wednesday, November 12, starting at 6:00 PM. Admission is free to interested parties, and reservations can be made online.
