Vallejo challenge to explore the world of wind power

An event is on the way for Vallejo that will see kids putting their design skills to the test as they explore the benefits of wind turbine technology.

The KidWind Challenge will have teams of students from Grades 4 to 12 designing an assortment of items that utilize wind turbine technology. Their final products will then be reviewed and displayed.

According to the organizers of the challenge, one of the goals of the annual event is to facilitate the exploration of alternative energy sources such as wind, and also to encourage more girls to seek a career in one of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) subjects.

The planners went on to say that the KidWind Challenge can also benefit the coaches, teachers, and other adults who participate in the program. They will have a chance to see the theories they teach applied to real life models, and gain a greater understanding of wind turbine technology. Award certificates and other printed items of this type of occasion can be supplied by Stationery printers in the local area.

Vallejo will be hosting the event, and students from all over the bay area are encouraged to participate. It has been scheduled for February 10 in the California Marine Academy, and more information and an opportunity to register is available on the Kid Wind Challenge website.
