Juneteenth celebrations to return to Vallejo this year

The Solano County African Family Reunion Celebration Committee (AAFRC) will hold Vallejo Juneteenth, a festival to remember the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865 and abolition of slavery.

The whole community comes together to join in the nationwide observance of Juneteenth that celebrates equal rights and freedom in the United States of America.

The event is free to attend, and in the past years has seen crowds swelling to over 2,000 visitors. The annual festival is held on the third Saturday of June. During Juneteenth celebrations, the AAFRC, in partnership with non-profit organizations makes services such as health screenings, dental check-ups, and immunizations available to people in the community. The event also has local schools, colleges and after school programs participating to increase awareness and enrolment in colleges. Vendors and local artisans at the event will sell their products and services.

The Juneteenth event is not only a time to come together and celebrate cultural diversity, but also an opportunity to promote local businesses and the need to provide quality healthcare and education to everyone. The event is fully funded by generous sponsors and community service organizations. The sponsors of the event are likely to use poster printing to show their support for Juneteenth and promote their business.

The celebration will be held on June 19, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, behind City Hall.
