Hidden gems of Vallejo unearthed at upcoming mineral show

The Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society will be holding a festival this February at the Solano County Fairgrounds.

The 52nd Annual Gem, Mineral, & Jewelry Show is an event where guests can browse over 80 tables of crafts related to lapidary creations. The Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society will have a silent auction during the show that will feature items like mineral specimens and petrified wood. The festival will also have several activities that children can join, such as digging for treasure, cracking geodes, and a wheel of fortune.

The Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society was created in 1954 by geology buffs who wanted to share their knowledge with the public. The nonprofit organization also educates people about different crafting skills, including silversmithing, beading, and wire wrapping. Several events have been hosted by the group, like the Spring Bling and community field trips. Organizations such as this can use poster printing to make ads for their upcoming activities.

The show will be held at McCormack Hall during the weekend of February 22nd and February 23 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event will cost $6 per person, though kids who are 12 or younger can get free admission. The Solano County Fairgrounds will provide free parking. Those interested in becoming members of the Vallejo Gem & Mineral Society can apply on the group’s website.
