The city of Vallejo, collaborating with the Solano Resource Conservation District, the Recreation District of Greater Vallejo, and the Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District, has been awarded a grant of $4.8 million from the Caltrans Clean California Grant Program. These funds will go towards the enhancement and clean-up of Lake Dalwigk Park.
There is a trail through the park that will be improved with these funds to extend the paving on both ends of the trail for cyclists and pedestrians to make it more accessible. This extension of the trail will also provide a safe route for travelers to access the services of the Curtola Transit Center.
Among the other improvements that will be part of the project will be a shade structure; stations for dog waste; new drinking fountains and picnic tables; replacing the sidewalk and landscaping along Lemon Street; and a new restroom, among others. Cities often turn to local Print shops to provide more information about such projects for residents and visitors.
Mark Helmbrecht, Transportation Manager for Vallejo, said that the grant was extremely competitive and only about one-third of the submissions were awarded funds. He added that the project will complement the landscaping and trash clean-up that has been carried out in the area over the past several years and will also enrich the native plant work and the habitat.Get a Free Quote for Print
