School district launches mental health program

San Rafael City Schools is starting a mental health service with free access for the district’s students, staff, and families.

The program is called Care Solace. It is a 24/7 online help tool where people can find resources and information on how to deal with mental health issues. Counseling is also available. Flyer printing is often a good way to promote such new initiatives.

Superintendent Jim Hogeboom announced that the program would be up and running soon. He says that students, families, and staff will have access to the services through a phone call or by logging in online. In a statement, he said:

“All school staff and families can use the tool to connect with community-based mental health care resources and providers. Their proprietary care navigation system taps into a vast database of mental health care resources to find carefully vetted local therapists and programs in minutes.”

The goal is to take care of people within the community whose mental health has been affected by the pandemic. A coalition was also formed with the goal of improving the mental health of all the school district’s stakeholders. One of the principal members of this coalition is the non-profit organization Beyond Differences.

The state schools superintendent, Tony Thurmond, will lead the coalition, which will be concentrating on issues that affect mental health such as social isolation and inequality.
