San Rafael hosts start of new dance event
An experience focused on the community and a popular art form is coming to San Rafael in early August.
Marin Dance Festival is an event that is being held for the first time. The show is being put together by Inside Out Contemporary Ballet.
IOCB is a locally founded company that opened in 2012. The performances put on by IOCB are original ballets in a contemporary style.
The goal of the display is to provide the community with a chance to experience a number of dance styles, each with a routine planned and executed by professional dancers from the local area.
The styles featured include contemporary, jazz, belly dance, Latin rhythms, urban, kathak, ballet, and circus.
The listed performers and groups include Charlotte Moraga & the Chitresh Dance Company, Carem Love, Alex Ketley, Fernanda Cedeno, Doree Clark, Casey Thorne, Jasmine Kaiulani, and Marisa Gregory.
Tickets can be accessed through the allevents or IOCB’s websites. The pricing, including fees, ranges from $20 to $55. Seniors, students, and kids are welcome to the $20 option as a special discounted price. This is also available for ADA accessible seats.

The event will have two performances. The August 8th show will take place between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. The August 9th performance is scheduled for 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
