San Rafael to celebrate Chinese New Year
San Rafael has organized an event which will help the community celebrate and experience a cultural holiday. The activity will be available to try out starting in January.
Lunar New Year is a celebration based on the moon phases and the lunar calendar. The event is honored by China and other Asian countries/cultures. The period shifts with the moon, so the exact dates will vary. Typically, the starting date is within the window of January 21st and February 20th. 2025 will be the Year of the Snake, following the Chinese Zodiac.
The San Rafael event, called the Snake Hunt & Word Scramble Challenge, will include several local businesses in the city’s Downtown area. Each will have a piece of art painted in one of its windows, with a unique letter hidden inside the image. Once every letter is found and put in the right spot, participants can turn in their finished entries for the opportunity to win one of many gift cards. Each will have a value between $25 and $100.
Answers can be entered via email, or at the location of the initial map pickup. This venue is Pink Owl Coffee. Winners will be contacted February 11th.
