San Rafael event to showcase environmental craft

A San Rafael venue is hosting an event with a twist that is beneficial to our natural environment in late June.

Beads & Bling! is a class focusing on making jewelry. Using a combination of beads, chains, fasteners, tools, and charms, attendees will be able to put together a unique piece. They will also learn a number of skills and techniques they can use to make more jewelry in the future.

The materials are sourced through donations. Community members can give all kinds of art supplies and other resources, as long as the items work and are clean. The goal for Another Reclaimed Treasure from Trash (ARTT), which is both the venue and the organizer, is to educate the area’s residents on the benefits of reusing items that are in good condition instead of letting them end up in landfill, where they may take thousands of years to decompose.

In addition to these creative events, ARTT also acts as a retail shop, giving patrons access to a uniquely diverse inventory. The small business is run by two moms, Michelle Martinez and Crystal Vargas, both of whom share a passion for art and their local community.

Tickets are available via EventBrite. General admission tickets are $44.52, but a deal is in place where two tickets can be bought for $23.18 each, making them effectively almost half price. Flyer printing is commonly used as a promotion technique for creatively focused activities.

The class is taking place between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Friday, June 27.
