San Diego shows some R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
A tribute band to one of the greatest artists in music is coming to Downtown San Diego.
“R.E.S.P.E.C.T.” is the title of one of the legendary Aretha Franklin’s biggest hits, and also the name of the band paying tribute to her. Paying tribute to someone of this stature is a challenge, but R.E.S.P.E.C.T. spares no expense, comprising a live band and vocalists, some of them with Broadway experience.
The lineup is currently vocalist Cristina Raè, who appeared in “The Wiz” on Broadway. Also on board is Tiyanna Gentry, who appeared in “Frozen” at the Paramount Theatre, as well as “The Full Monty” and “Rock of Ages.”
More vocal fireworks are courtesy of Demiah Latreece, a New Yorker who has been performing with The Broadway Dreams for five years. Jaymuria Etienne, who has appeared in such leading roles as Diva Donna in “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical,” is the Swing for the production.
New Yorker TJ Griffin is the drummer, and Los Angeles native Osei Kweku is on bass. San Diego native Joshua Vasquez is on guitar, and Michael Williams, who is also an actor, rounds out the lineup handling the keyboards.
