Holiday by the Bay is happening now in San Diego, thanks to the Hilton San Diego Bay Front, which turned the Bayfront Park into a glittering celebration of winter.
Bayfront Park is right on the waterfront, adjacent to the Hilton and the Convention Center. It has a paved path for walking and jogging, and is the location of some of the city’s public art. During the holiday event, visitors can enjoy the Reindeer Run, an ice-tubing slide reaching two stories tall, the Iceberg Bumpers (bumper cars on ice), a Bucking Reindeer, and an interactive light show featuring a 30-foot Christmas tree.
Attendees can visit the Claus Kitchen to decorate cookies and gingerbread, and write letters to the troops. They can stop at Santa’ Workshop to decorate a Christmas stocking, or squeeze through an elf-sized door for an adventure, or follow Santa through a chimney.
Of course, food and drink are always part of the holidays, and they’re available here as well. Adults can stop at the Yule Lodge for specialty drinks, or book a Fireside Lodge for a party. The event is not free, but is a fundraiser to help support the United Service Organization (USO), so military personnel are entitled to a discount. Organizers of events like this might use flyer printing to help publicize the celebration.
Holiday by the Bay runs through January 5, 2019.
