An expert in electronic music will entertain San Diego audiences soon.
Kelly Melissa Sweet, who goes by the professional name HALIENE, is a singer/songwriter working in the electronic dance music (EDM) genre. She has been performing since the age of four, when she made her debut at the Cape Cod Conservatory. She and her mother relocated to Utah, where she began appearing at local community theaters, festivals, and state fairs at age seven.
Her career really bloomed in 2006, when USA Today called her one of the “serious female singers” on the rise. That year she released her debut EP, which contained the tracks “We Are One” and “Ready for Love,” both of were featured on network television shows. “We Are One” was used by NBC on its shows “Passions” and “Las Vegas,” while “Ready for Love” was heard on the ABC series “One Life to Live.”
She began turning to the EDM field around 2015, and released a trance album, “Blueprint,” in 2017. Her trance single, “Saving Light,” hit the No. 1 spot on the Beatport chart, and Armin van Buuren named the song “Tune of the Year,” as decided by listeners of his radio show, “A State of Trance.” She continues to release material as either the lead singer or featured artist.
HAILENE will be at the Music Box on April 23. When events like this are scheduled, organizers can create programs by using brochure printing.
