A review of the “blue-eyed soul” artists says:
“We’ve seen this show before but it never gets old. Bill Medley still has that great voice and Buckey [sic] Heard fills in nicely for . . . [the] late Bobby Hatfield.”
The duo, of course, is the Righteous Brothers, who first got together in 1963, with Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield as its founding members. Hatfield, sadly, is gone now, but Bucky Heard and Medley are still packing houses.
The duo was most successful in the 60s and 70s, when they released monster hits like “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” “(You’re My) Soul and Inspiration,” covers of “Ebb Tide” and “Unchained Melody,” and “Just Once in My Life.” “Lovin’ Feelin’” became their signature song, and “Soul and Inspiration” was one of the best-selling singles in history. They took a hiatus but in 1981 Medley and Hatfield reunited and performed until 2003 when Hatfield passed away.
The duo has won numerous honors, including being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2005. They were ranked No. 16 of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time by Rolling Stone.
The Righteous Brothers and Bill Medley will be at Humphrey’s by the Bay on October 8. Great Posters are the perfect product to advertise events like this, and can be created by the organizers using poster printing.
