One of the city's signature events will soon be back in San Diego for sports fans to enjoy.
The Holiday Bowl, sponsored by the San Diego County Credit Union, is the high point of several related events. The college football game is a battle between two major conferences – Pac-12 and the Big Ten.
In addition to the game, the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade will wind through the streets of San Diego's downtown. The event is family friendly, and features drill teams, floats, marching bands, and gigantic balloons. In fact, this event is the nation's largest balloon parade.
Before they head off to watch the parade, guests have the opportunity to attend a Kickoff Luncheon. More than 1,000 people attend this event each year, where they enjoy great food, as well as a “battle of the bands” between the bands from the two universities playing the bowl game. Guests will have a chance to sit and talk with the coaches and players from both schools.
A 5K Run/Walk, pregame parties, a tailgate party, and other activities are all on the schedule.
The game's kickoff is at 5:00 pm on December 27, with the Balloon Parade stepping off at 3:00 pm on December 26. The Kickoff Luncheon begins at 11:00 am on December 26, with the “battle of the bands,” at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Lunch is served at 11:30 am. Flyer printing can be used to create a schedule for participants for events like this.
