The fastest, tallest roller coaster in San Diego will open at SeaWorld soon, according to an announcement by the park.
Construction of the Electric Eel is nearly finished, and testing has already started, with vehicles being sent over the tracks.
The coaster has a relatively small footprint. It will sit on a site comprising only 1.2 acres, and is only 863 feet long. However, it can reach speeds of up to 62 mph, and is 150 feet tall. Riders will face powerful launches, and an in-line twist that will give riders a glimpse of Mission Bay as they hang upside down. The ride will last one minute, and also includes a non-inverted loop, which is unusual in that it will leave riders right-side up at the top of the loop.
The Electric Eel is the third roller coaster to be operated at SeaWorld San Diego, and is the fastest and tallest in the park. This type of coaster is also found at other parks in the SeaWorld chain, including Busch Gardens Williamsburg, where it is known as the Tempesto. It's also identical to the Superman Ultimate Flight located at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California.
The Electric Eel opens May 12. Events like this can be even more fun if managers work with a banner printing company to create festive flags and Banners to decorate the new ride.
