The San Diego tourism industry received some good news with the long awaited and much anticipated announced opening of the Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park this November.
The Comic-Con Museum’s opening will take place at the same time as a scaled back version of the in-person convention will be taking place, although the venue for the November 26-28 event has yet to be announced.
The Museum’s planned opening Thanksgiving Week will only be for the project’s first phase, at which time an education center will be partially finished. There will be artwork from past conventions, an atrium, and comic book art exhibits. Work on the rest of the three-floor museum will continue while the museum stays open.
Grand openings, and even not-so-grand openings, often involve the services of a banner printing company.
If all goes according to plan, the completed museum will open while the big downtown San Diego Comic-Con convention is taking place in July 2022. When the Comic-Con Museum is complete it will contain two art galleries, a gift shop featuring exclusive merchandise, a theater, outdoor seating, rotating exhibits, an extensive education center and a café.
Cox Communications, AT&T, U.S. Bank, the Roddenberry Foundation and D.C. Comics are among the large corporate donors of the Comic-Con Museum
Phase one will be unveiled and open to the public November 26.
