Roni Benise, who is known simply as “Benise,” is an American who fell in love with Spanish flamenco. A Nebraska native, Benise relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in rock, but switched to a classical guitar from an electric instrument when he heard flamenco for the first time. Intensely drawn to the music of Spain, he relearned his technique, and then created an act that combined Latin rhythms with the atmosphere of a circus.
Benise uses styles like samba, tango, salsa, and flamenco, all of them supported by the rhythms found in African tribal music, and mixes them together with rock. The result is a totally new sound that appeals to those who like world music, as well as those who prefer more mainstream material.
Benise's unique style drew the attention of PBS, which led to the creation of his Emmy-winning “Nights of Fire!” show.
A review of Benise says:
“Very fun and entertaining. Benise brings you a taste of Latin music from many different countries . . . Every member of his team is very talented including the violinist, the other 2 guitarists, the drummers, and the dancers. What a show!”
Benise—The 20th Anniversary Spectacular will take place at the Balboa Theatre, on September 26 at 8:00 pm. Poster printing can be used to provide colorful advertising for events like this.
