Band brings the 80s back to San Diego

A synthpop band from the UK is on the way to rock San Diego.

A Flock of Seagulls got together in 1979 in Liverpool, with Ali and Mike Score as the founders, along with Willie Woo and Francis Maudsley. Woo soon left and Paul Reynolds came aboard as his replacement. They began their career by playing in local clubs, where they attracted a following quickly, and drew the attention of record producers. Their single “Telecommunication” was a hit in the U.S., going to No. 19 on the U.S. Dance chart.

Their success in the United States attracted the UK label Jive, who signed them. They released “A Flock of Seagulls,” their debut, in 1982, and saw it hit No. 5 in Canada and No. 10 in the United States. One track, “I Ran (So Far Away),” was a huge hit, making it to the Top 10 in the States and No. 1 in Australia. Their next album, “Listen,” finally brought them recognition in their home country. Today, they have a solid fan base and are widely praised for their contribution to the new wave movement.

A review says:

“I left the concert with a huge smile on my face. It was one of the best shows in recent memory.”

A Flock of Seagulls will be at the House of Blues on February 18. When events like this are planned, organizers can use poster printing to create effective advertising.
