Youth fishing derby returns to San Clemente

San Clemente is hosting its Annual Youth Fishing Derby this February at the Municipal Pier.

Open to children ages 5-13, the event costs $10 for residents and $13 for non-residents. There is an option to either rent a fishing pole, through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, or bring one’s own to the event, with a maximum capacity of 100 participants in each category.

Awards will be given out for various fishing categories, including biggest, smallest, first fish caught and the most fish caught. The event will be held whether it rains or not.

The event is part of the yearly San Clemente Day celebrations, which honor the 98th anniversary of the city’s founding. The fishing derby also highlights the history of the San Clemente Municipal Pier as part of the festivities.

After the derby, there is an opportunity for free recreational swimming at the San Clement Aquatics Center at 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa in San Clemente.

Youth fishing events like this may choose to use flyer printing to create equipment lists, promotional material and event schedules.

The San Clemente Day Annual Youth Fishing Derby is happening on February 28. Check-in begins at 8a.m., with the derby itself kicking off from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Municipal Pier at 622 Avenida Del Mar in San Clemente.
